Opening February 12, 2013 and running through April 6, 2013 at the Gaston County Museum’s bull pen is Elysium: Artwork by Laura Vasseur. Vasseur is a Louisiana native currently living in Charlotte. A graphic designer by day and expressive painter by night, her artwork is expressive and symbolic, using nature and societal issues to display life’s journey.
“I enjoy evoking thought through developing the realist with the surreal and the juxtaposition when the two overlap. My paintings take a carnival approach using symbolism to express the emotions and struggles of everyday life and society,” says Vasseur.
