UPDATE: Police Seek Help Locating Arson Suspect

Gaston County Police are no longer actively searching for a man who is suspected of burning an occupied residence in the 100 block of Brian Circle, Gastonia, NC.

James Richard Pruitt Jr was being sought in connection with an arson that occurred in the early morning hours on June 11, 2017.  Pruitt is alleged to have set fire to a residence that was occupied by two adults and a 3 year-old child.  All people were able to escape the house, but a dog and a rabbit died in the fire.  The mobile home was completely destroyed. 

Pruitt’s last known address is 102 Brian Circle, Gastonia, NC.  Pruitt eluded arrest since warrants were issued charging him with 3 counts of Attempted Murder, 2 counts of Felony Animal Cruelty, and 1 count of First Degree Arson until he turned himself in at the Gaston County Magistrate’s Office shortly before midnight on June 13, 2017.  He is currently being held with no bond.

Pruitt’s last known address is 102 Brian Circle, Gastonia, NC, but police have been unable to locate him since warrants were issued charging him with 3 counts of Attempted Murder, 2 counts of Felony Animal Cruelty, and 1 count of First Degree Arson.
