School Lunchrooms & Concession Stands (LFSE)

School lunchrooms are inspected up to four times a year by the local health department. School lunchrooms are inspected at a high frequency due to children’s decreased ability to fight off foodborne illnesses because their immune systems are not fully developed.

School Concession Stands, or "Limited Food Service Establishments" (LFSE), are typically those sponsored by PTAs and Booster Clubs. These concession stands prepare and serve food only at amateur athletic events, like school football or basketball concession stands. Concession stands or limited food service establishments are inspected twice a year. Grades are not required to be posted in these establishments.

To acquire a LFSE permit, a Limited Food Service Application must be submitted.
