Fatal Consequences

Fatal ConsequencesOfficers of the Community Operations Section (School Resource Officers and D.A.R.E.) help teach teen drivers the risks and penalties associated with drinking and driving. Fatal Vision goggles (devices that mimic the vision of one impaired by alcohol) will be worn by students who will attempt to maneuver the cart through a marked course. It is expected that the simulator goggles will prevent students from being able to drive the course successfully.

Along with the driving experience, students will receive an instructional lecture entitled "Effects and Risks Associated with Driving While Impaired" and will view an anti-drunk driving video.

The golf cart was purchased with drug asset forfeiture money in cooperation with the North Carolina branch of E-Z-GO Textron, headquartered in Fuquay-Varina. For more information contact Sergeant Charles McCants at 704-862-6332.
