[ARCHIVED] Gaston County Police Investigate Sexual Assault

On August 10th, 2022, the Gaston County Police were made aware of a sexual assault that had occurred in the southeastern portion of the county.  The assault occurred in October of 2019.  Due to the allegation of the crime, the victim’s information will not be released.  Through the investigative process, detectives were able to identify a second victim.  The second victim’s name is also being withheld due to the nature of the offense.

Harris Franklin GunterDetectives have identified the suspect as:

Harris Franklin Gunter, 4/17/2002, 8232 Catawba Cove Drive, Belmont, NC

Gunter has been charged with two counts of second degree rape and two counts of second degree sex offense.  Gunter is currently under a $300,000 secured bond at the Gaston County Jail.
