[ARCHIVED] County Police Respond to Shooting UPDATE

On Monday January 16, 2023 at about 6:00 pm, the Gaston County Police Department responded to the 600 block of Hickory Grove Road, just north of McAdenville, in reference to a shooting.  Several callers had advised a male at this location was shot one time in the leg.  A wrecker was seen leaving the after right after the incident.   Witnesses told police the shooting stemmed from a confrontation over a vehicle.  

Upon arrival, officers located an individual suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.   The individual was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center for treatment.  The injury was not life threatening.

Shortly after the shooting occurred, Community Policing Officers located a wrecker fitting the description provided by witnesses.  Two subjects believed to be involved were in the wrecker.    Criminal Investigations Unit Detectives responded and began the investigation.  

The following individuals have been charged with their participation in the crime:

Michael NMN Conner, DOB 09-27-1973, 25 Flowers Court, Belmont, NC 
Felony Larceny
Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury 

Johnny Louis Reeves Jr., 12-21-1971, 1109 Waterview Drive, Charlotte, NC
1 charge of felony larceny

This warrants are currently outstanding.  The Gaston County Police encourages the public to contact 704-866-3300 if they know the location of either suspect.  For the citizens’ safety, we ask that you do not confront either suspect.  The investigation is on-going at this time.  Anyone with further information is asked to contact Det. Brogden at 704-866-3320 or Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.  A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information pertinent to the investigation.  There is no further information available at this time.
