[ARCHIVED] County Police Make Arrest in Overnight Stabbing

In the early morning hours of September 2nd, 2023, the Gaston County Police responded to the 200 block of Oakland Street near Lowell, NC in reference to an assault.  The suspect had stabbed two people and fled on foot.  A K9 Unit attempted to track the suspect but was unable to locate him.

The suspect was identified as Billie Joe Meeks, W/M, 3/15/1964 of 204 Oakland Street, Lowell, NC. 

The first victim was identified as Steven Lewis Isenhour, W/M, 6/7/1978 of 204 Oakland Street, Lowell, NC.   Mr. Isenhour was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center where he is in stable condition.  The second victim is a juvenile and no information will be released about their identity.  The juvenile was treated at the scene.

At approximately 6:30 PM this afternoon, members of the Gaston County Police F.A.S.T. team arrested Mr. Meeks.  He is currently incarcerated on a hold in the Gaston County Jail awaiting his first court appearance in Gaston County Court.  He was charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill.
