[ARCHIVED] Gaston County Police FAST Team Arrests Wanted Felon

Fugitive Apprehension and Suspect Tracking (FAST) team

Theron WingateOn Monday, September 25, 2023, the Gaston County Probation and Parole’s Apprehension, Capture, and Enforcement Unit requested assistance from the Gaston County Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension and Suspect Tracking (FAST) team in locating Theron Wingate.  Wingate had an outstanding Felony Parole warrant related to a Possession of a Firearm by a Felon charge.  FAST team and Probation and Parole officers located Wingate in the area of Short Street in Stanley.  When officers attempted to arrest Wingate, he ran from officers, fleeing into a residence, and then refused to come out.  Due to Wingate’s violent criminal history, the FAST team requested the Gaston County Emergency Response Team’s (ERT) assistance.  ERT responded to the scene where Wingate quickly surrendered without incident.  Wingate is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail without a bond.  Gaston County Police would like to thank the Stanley Police Department for their assistance which led to a quick resolution to this situation.
