Gaston County Police Logo

Gaston County Police Department is a CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) accredited agency and as part of this process, we announce the availability of the CALEA Public Comment Portal for feedback on our performance as a public safety entity. Comments may be in the form of commendations or concerns regarding our compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for continued accredited status. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.

The CALEA Public Comment Portal may be found at http://cimrs2.calea.org/664 or by visiting www.calea.org and searching for Gaston County (NC) Police Department under the Public Comment Portal.

Please Note: CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes. Additionally, there will be no response other than acknowledgement of the submission. The submission will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA Accreditation.

Gaston County Police Department first received CALEA accreditation in November 1991 and has maintained the standard through our most recent re-accreditation in March 2022. The Department is an Advanced Law Enforcement Accredited Program which means that we comply with all 461 CALEA standards except those considered Not Applicable to our function.

A list of CALEA Standard Titles may be found on the CALEA website at Law Enforcement - Standards Titles | CALEA® | The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.  Further questions may be directed to the Accreditation Manager.
