[ARCHIVED] County Police Investigate Overnight Shooting

On Friday September 29, 2023 at 1:04 AM, the Gaston County Police responded to 118 Rocky Ridge Way, Gastonia in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim, identified as Shane Lamar Woody (W/M 3/22/1968), suffering from a single gunshot wound.    The victim lives at 118 Rocky Ridge Way.  Mr. Woody was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Officers were able to located and detain one suspect on scene.  That suspect was identified as Christopher Joseph Brewer (W/M 7/11/1982).  Mr. Brewer lives at 103 Rocky Ridge Way, Gastonia.  He has been charged with attempted 1st degree murder, attempted armed robbery, and conspiracy. 

A second suspect fled the area and escaped before officers arrived. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit identified the suspect as Jerry Jerome Johnson Jr. (B/M 2/27/1980).  His last known address was in Gastonia but police were unable to locate him there overnight.  He has been charged with attempted 1st degree murder, attempted armed robbery, conspiracy, and possession of a firearm by a felon.  The public is urged to contact 911 if they encounter Mr. Johnson.  He is considered armed and dangerous.
