[ARCHIVED] Gaston County Police Involved in Vehicle Pursuit with Wanted Suspect

Gaston County (October 22, 2023, 11:00am):  Around 1:23am Sunday, Gaston County Police Officers went to 310 Carson Drive, near Gastonia, to attempt to arrest Jaiquvous Williams. Williams had outstanding orders for arrest for Assault by Pointing a Gun and Injury to Real Property.  Officers located Williams sitting in a vehicle in the driveway of the residence and saw that Williams was armed with a handgun.  When officers attempted to arrest Williams he took off in his vehicle.  Due to Williams’ lengthy criminal history and the fact that he was armed, officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit with Williams.

County Police officers were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device on Williams’ vehicle on Highway 74 near Mockingbird Lane.  Despite Williams’ vehicle having several flat tires, he continued to flee from officers, crossing into Mecklenburg County.  Officers requested assistance from Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and stopped pursuing Williams around 1:36am.  Around 1:40am CMPD officers located Williams vehicle, which had wrecked in the parking lot of a car dealership at 3911 Wilkinson Blvd.  Williams had left the scene of the crash on foot, and despite a search by CMPD and Gaston County Police officers, they were unable to locate Williams.

County Police officers obtained additional charges on Williams for Possession of Firearm by a Felon and Felony Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, due to a quantity of Fentanyl that was found in his vehicle.  Officers with the Gaston County Fugitive Apprehension and Suspect Tracking team (FAST) are actively looking for Williams.  Anyone with information on Williams is asked to contact the Gaston County Police Department at 704-866-3320 or Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
