Second Suspect in Custody Following Missing Person Investigation

Gastonia, NC (January 20th, 2024 12:00 PM): A second person is in custody following an extensive missing person investigation.  ROBIN RAE ADAIR, 53, is facing a felony charge of Concealment of Death and a felony charge Obstruction of Justice.

The Lowell Police Department, Gaston County Police Department and Gaston County District Attorney’s Office have been investigating a missing person case since October of 2020.  Through the investigative process, information was discovered which led to a search at 613 South Church Street, Lowell, NC.  During this search, human remains were discovered.  The remains will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and examination.  The victim’s identification will be released once the Medical Examiner completes their examination.

Detectives discovered evidence that lead to ADAIR being charged in this case.  ADAIR formerly resided at 613 South Church Street, Lowell, NC.  The current tenets of the residence are not involved in any way in this case.  This is an isolated case and there is no danger to the public.

During the investigation, Detectives traveled to Ocala, Florida where they interviewed ADAIR about the missing person investigation.  After coordinating with Gaston County District Attorney Travis Page, charges of felony Concealment of Death and felony Obstruction of Justice were obtained on ADAIR.  Detectives worked with the Ocala Police Department in Florida to locate and arrest ADAIR.  ADAIR was booked into the Marion County (FL) Jail at on 1/19/2024 at 11:11PM.  She is currently in custody in the Marion County Jail pending extradition to North Carolina.  District Attorney Page and his team are leading the extradition process.
