Biography
Ricky Johnson is originally from Mount Airy, NC (aka Mayberry). He moved to the Charlotte area to attend college and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from UNCC. He received his CGCIO Certification from the UNC School of Government. This is not his first time being employed in Gaston County. While attending UNC-Charlotte he worked in Belmont at a warehouse for R.L. Stowe and later worked at the Helms plant until he graduated from college in 1992. He started his IT career as a computer programmer in private industry working for BGD Computers in Statesville, NC. Then he worked 21 years for Mecklenburg County. He started Gaston County in 2017 and found himself in a well performing IT Organization with highly competent staff. Few people are so lucky as to come into an organization that does not need fixing and has the foundation to grow and to continue to do great things.
