Christmas Comes Early to Gaston Animal Care and Enforcement

Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement was selected by Southern States Cooperative, Inc. as their local recipient of the annual Puppy Paw Campaign.  Twenty-one hundred pounds of pet food will be delivered to Gaston County Police Department on December 23, 2019 at 1:30pm. Southern States developed a media release that fully details the campaign and how their customers made this possible. Their media release follows.

Christmas Coming Early for Gaston County Animal Care
Southern States Cooperative donates 2100 pounds of pet food to local shelter

It’s not Santa and his reindeer, but there is a large delivery coming to the Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement next week. Southern States Cooperative and its customers are bringing Christmas to the shelter a little early. Furry friends in Gaston County will have a Merry Christmas and beyond thanks to a significant donation of dog food from Southern States. The Richmond-based agricultural company is donating 2150 pounds of food to Gaston County Animal Care & Enforcement just in time for the holiday.

Puppy Paw campaign nets big results

The donation is a result of the annual Puppy Paw Campaign held at participating Southern States retail locations. The Puppy Paw Campaign encourages customers to contribute a $1.00 donation to the pet food campaign. Each participating Southern States retail location donates its contributions to the local charity of its choice. Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement was chosen as the recipient of this year’s donation.

“We are extremely grateful to Southern States and its customers for this amazing donation,” says Reid Rollins, Captain, Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement. Rollins says the donation will be used to help those in the community in need.

“We get many requests from home-bound and indigent pet-owners,” says Rollins. “We will take this food out into the community for those who have no way to get food for their pets.”

Justin Blackwell, Southern States store manager, says, “We are happy to partner with Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement. They are one of our customers, and we have a long-standing partnership with them. We are thankful to our customers for their caring generosity in helping us provide this contribution to an organization that does so much good within our community.”

Presentation of the donation will be held Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 at 1:30 pm at the Gaston County Police Department located at 420 W. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28053.
