Tax Office Mails Out Property Tax Bills

GASTONIA, N.C. – The Gaston County Tax Office is scheduled to mail more than 120,000 property tax notices August 14, 2020. The tax bills are mailed directly to property owners responsible for payment.

The county will use the property taxes you pay to help support a range of community services, such as local public health initiatives, law enforcement, protective services for children and older adults, parks and recreation, and school and community college operations. Visit the county’s website at to learn more about the services that are available to you and your family.

Property taxes are due September 1, 2020. To avoid interest charges, property tax payments must be paid on or before January 5, 2021. Property owners whose payments are postmarked on or after January 6, 2021, will be charged a 2 percent interest penalty for the month of January and an additional 0.75 percent every month, or portion thereof, thereafter until the bill is paid in full, including interest and any other statutorily allowed fees or charges. All unpaid taxes are subject to be advertised in the local newspaper and an additional advertising fee will be added to each bill.
