Virtual Summit on Opioid Use Postponed Due to COVID-19
GASTON COUNTY, N.C. – The Gaston Controlled Substances Coalition, in a statement released today, decided to postpone its Gaston Substance Use Summit: Caring for Others and Ourselves, citing the continued demands the Covid-19 pandemic has placed on front-line professionals.
“The committee plans to reschedule the summit during the spring of 2021, when we are more likely to have a proven Covid-19 vaccine and life will hopefully have a more familiar and comfortable pace,” said Jeffrey Ellison, chairman of the Gaston Controlled Substances Coalition.
The three-week conference series, which was to begin on Monday, October 26, is a collaboration between the Charlotte Area Health Education Center (Charlotte AHEC) and Atrium Health. The program was designed to help front-line professionals learn how to care for themselves, as well as have a deeper understanding of Opioid Use Disorder.
