Gaston County Police Department to Hold Public Information Session for CALEA Re-Accreditation
The Gaston County Police Department is scheduled for a virtual on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards. Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As a part of the virtual assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session Monday, November 15, 2021 at 5:30pm in the Pendleton Community Room of the Gaston County Police Department located at 420 W. Franklin Blvd. Gastonia NC. Due to COVID-19 the public information session will be conducted with CALEA Assessors via Zoom. Masks are required.
Agency personnel and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling either 704-866-3362 or 704-866-3322 on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Comments will be taken by a CALEA Assessor.
Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address Gaston County Police Department’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.
